Burpless Tasty Green Cucumber

Crisp, refreshing, and incredibly reliable — This is a long-time favourite that continues to impress modern growers. This all-female variety produces loads of 25cm-long, smooth, dark green cucumbers with a mild, bitter-free flavour that’s perfect for salads, snacking, and sandwiches. Easy to grow indoors or outdoors, it’s the ideal cucumber for guaranteed harvests without the need for pollination!

Harvest

June to November, around 8–10 weeks after planting, once fruits reach their full length and the tip changes from pointed to softly rounded.

Growing Instructions

• Planting: Space plants 45cm apart in rich, well-prepared soil in a sunny, sheltered spot (above 16°C). Plant only after all frosts have finished.
• Training: Can sprawl along the ground but thrives when trained up a trellis, fence, cane, wire, or string — cleaner fruits and space saved!
• Support Method: Train stems clockwise up the support, removing side shoots and flowers up to 30cm. After that, keep removing side shoots as it climbs to around 6ft, then let it trail back down naturally.
• Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during warm spells.
• Feeding: Start feeding only once two cucumbers have begun to develop — never before.
• Maintenance: Remove any yellow or dead leaves to keep the plant healthy and productive.

• Continuous Picking: Harvest regularly to keep cucumbers coming through summer and autumn.
• No Manure: Avoid farmyard manure — herbicide residues can seriously damage cucumber plants.
• Straight Fruits: Vertical training helps keep cucumbers straight and blemish-free.
• Reliable Results: As an all-female variety, it sets fruit without pollination — perfect for greenhouses or low-bee areas.
