Description:
One plant per pot.
This compact chilli plant produces delicious, pungent, pendant-shaped fruits up to 15cm long. The fruits are known for their tangy flavour and moderate to intense heat, and can be harvested when green or red. Ideal to be used fresh or dried.
Harvest:
June to October — pick when fruits are glossy and swollen.
Growing Instructions:
Spacing: Plant 45cm apart.
Position: Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil.
Best Location: Chillies thrive in greenhouses but can also be grown in pots on a sunny patio or in a conservatory. Outdoor crops may be limited.
Watering: Keep well-watered, especially during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging.
Shade: During rare periods of intense heat, provide some shade to protect leaves.
Support: Once plants reach around 30cm, stake them to support growing fruits.
Feeding: Begin feeding only after 2–3 chillies have formed.
Tips:
Always wash your hands after handling chillies.
Chillies dislike cold roots — containers or grow bags are ideal as they warm up faster than garden soil.
If only one chilli develops and no others follow, pick it to encourage further fruiting.
