Coriander (3 x 9cm pot plants)

A fragrant and versatile herb, Coriander is a must-have for any kitchen garden. Its feathery leaves and delicate stems (also known as cilantro) add a fresh, citrusy zing to curries, salads, and Asian dishes, while the seeds are a warming spice with a nutty, aromatic flavour. Growing up to 50cm tall, this plant not only enhances dishes but also has traditional medicinal uses.


Planting
Where: Well-drained soil or compost in beds or containers, in a lightly-shaded spot.


Care
Watering: Keep well watered until established and during dry weather.
Protection: Guard against frost, slugs, and snails.


Height & Spread
Size: 45 – 60cm × 20 – 25cm.


Harvesting
Leaves: Pick gently as needed, ideally in the morning when flavour is strongest.
Technique: Snip the top leaves and stems, avoiding more than one-third of the plant at a time to encourage continuous growth.

Succession Sowing: Sow every 2–3 weeks for a steady supply of fresh leaves.
Seeds: Allow some plants to flower and set seed for use as a spice later in the season.
