Crisp, juicy, and wonderfully refreshing - a top-tier cucumber that delivers a steady stream of 16–18cm fruits with thin skins and incredible crunch. As an all-female variety, it produces reliably without the need for pollination, giving you fuss-free, high-quality cucumbers all summer long. Perfect for salads, snacking, and growing success every time!
May to November, around 8–10 weeks after planting, once the tip of the cucumber changes from pointed to rounded.
• Planting: Space 45cm apart in a growbag or large pot in a sunny, sheltered position. Keep them above 16°C and away from draughts — warmth is key!
• Where to Grow: Best in a greenhouse, though they may succeed outdoors in a hot summer.
• Training: Guide the plant clockwise up a 6ft string, cane, or stake.
– Remove side shoots and flowers up to 30cm.
– After 30cm, continue to remove side shoots as the plant climbs.
– Once at the top, let it cascade back down naturally.
• Watering: Keep soil evenly moist until established and throughout dry spells.
• Feeding: Begin feeding only when the first two cucumbers have started to grow — never before.
• Maintenance: Remove any yellowing leaves. If stressed, Deli Star may produce male flowers — remove these immediately.
• Stay Consistent: Even watering prevents bitter or misshapen fruit.
• Warm and Sheltered: Deli Star thrives in heat — greenhouse growing gives the best results.
• Pick Often: Harvest regularly to keep cucumbers coming and encourage perfect shape and flavour.
