Harvest

August to November - Ready when the vine begins to shrink and the shell has hardened. Allow pumpkins to fully colour for the richest flavour and longest storage.

Growing Instructions

Planting: Plant 45–60cm apart in containers, growbags, or well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered spot.
Space: Give them room! Along a sunny fence is perfect.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist — not soggy.
Training: Guide the vines as they grow to stop them taking over the garden.
Feeding: Feed once fruits start to form.
Sunshine Boost: Move leaves aside so pumpkins get plenty of sun to ripen.
Protection: Place pumpkins on tiles, wood, or glass to prevent rot.
Sizing: For giant pumpkins, keep only 1–2 fruits per plant and remove the rest.

Top Tips

Handle With Care: Never lift a pumpkin by its stem — it can snap and cause the fruit to rot.
Cure for Storage: Leave pumpkins in the sun for a week after picking to harden their skins for long-term storage.
Mulch Magic: Mulch around the plant to retain moisture and keep weeds down.
